Pine Leaf Boys
The Pine Leaf Boys are a powerhouse of young musicians. Each was born, raised and steeped in the rich Cajun music tradition of South Louisiana. Led by accordionist and singer Wilson Savoy of the famed Savoy Family Band, this four-time GRAMMY- nominated band has made a name for itself by digging deep into the traditional Cajun repertoire, dusting it off and shining it up for young and old audiences to appreciate anew.
The group is known for its genuine love of the music, boisterous playing and uniquely thoughtful arrangements of classic and contemporary songs. They play Cajun dance hall standards dating back to the early 1900s while making a priority to bring many of the more obscure songs of past masters into their set, treating them with new twists and turns. Savoy easily accomplishes this feat with some of the most talented players Louisiana has to offer: fiddler/vocalist Cortney Granger (with familial ties to the Balfa Brothers), guitarist Jon Bertrand, drummer/vocalist Drew Simon, and bassist Thomas David.
Perhaps this quote from the New York Times says it best: "The Pine Leaf Boys cast a spell. Combining a mysterious past…the nearly forgotten dialect and the archaic squeezebox's red bellows. This is the best new, energetic, and fun Cajun band in a very long time."
