Buille

With traditional Irish ballads and dance music such as jigs, reels and hornpipes as its inspiration, Buille have crafted a distinctive sound that also mines stylistic elements from contemporary genres such as jazz, blues, Greek and Turkish wedding music and modern classical. Buille is the brainchild of brothers Niall and Caoimhín Vallely, who play concertina and piano, respectively. They hail from County Armagh in Northern Ireland and are accompanied by the UK-born Paul Meehan on guitar. Niall learned to play the concertina (small hexagonal accordion with bellows and button keys) from his multi-instrumentalist parents at the age of seven and over the years developed a unique approach to playing the instrument, garnering him international recognition.

In the past decade he has become known as a composer and soloist on the concertina. Recent commissions have been for the BBC series "Flight of the Earls" and a piece featuring traditional Irish instruments and chamber orchestra which premiered at the Grand Opera house in Belfast in 2007. This is traditional Irish music like you've never heard it!
