Bohemian Dutchmen

German settlers established New Braunfels, Texas, just outside of San Antonio, in the mid-1800s. Today, the town on the Comal River proudly celebrates its German heritage with great food (sausage and breads, in particular), a long-running and highly popular Octoberfest, and some of the best German/Czech polka bands around.

The Bohemian Dutchmen, one of the most popular, formed in 1978 and are not only in demand at local festivals and dancehalls, but perform all over the state. Front and center in all his lederhosen glory is band leader and piano accordionist Roy Haag, who is also a music teacher and treasure-trove of German and Czech polka songs. You name it and Roy knows it!! The rest of the band round out the typical "oompah" sound that New Braunfels is known for: tuba, trumpet, saxophone, trombone, clarinet and drums. Polka veterans and novices alike are all invited. The Bohemian Dutchmen promise their Octoberfest best!
